After a few delays due to weather and technical problems the Vickers Vimy bi-plane landed on the 8th fairway of the Connemara Golf Course in Aillebrack, Ballyconneely just after 5pm on Sunday 3rd July 2005. Pilots Steve Fossett and Mark Rebholz gave the massive waiting crowd a great treat as they circled Clifden then the original Alcock and Brown landing site and then the golf course. Even after 18 hours flying they still took the time to take interviews and shake hands with members of the public. Clifden Lifeboat had their "D Class" Lifeboat on standby in case they had any problems.
Frank Acton looked after the organisation and most of the the crew were there helping the organisers in various ways. Dave Barry Joe Acton & Neil Gallery were there as firemen and James and John Mullen were there as Emergency Medical Technicians.
